For the final week of Class 1 (it’s been 3 months already!) we put together all our work into a Progress Reel, from newest to oldest.

It’s been such an incredible learning experience so far, can’t wait for what’s next!

Class 1 Progress Reel:

This week we finished our personality walk, showing it in a perspective view. We also sketched various poses showing ‘Balance’, and then chose one to pose in 3D

This week we began planning and blocking our ‘character’ walk – a walk showing personality. Also we sketched various ‘Exhausted’ poses and chose one to pose in 3D. Lastly we revised our vanilla walk and Concerned pose based on Mentor feedback.

I decided to go for a ‘funky’ walk, with the leading foot flicking out and the hips twisting and bopping in a groovy way.

Concerned pose revision:

This week we finalised our vanilla walk, having had feedback from our Mentor at the Blocking stage. Also we had to sketch various poses showing ‘concern’ and choose one to pose in 3D. I also revised my Strength pose based on Mentor feedback.

I found the whole vanilla walk pretty difficult to get ‘right’. The knee popping was a particularly tricky and frustrating area to constantly try to fix.

This week we began planning our ‘vanilla walk – a standard walk without character or emotion – and Blocking the walk out. We also had to sketch various ‘Strength’ poses and choose one to pose in 3D. Lastly we had to revise our previous Taylor animation based on our Mentor’s comments.

I had this idea of visualising ‘cheating’ on your diet. I know I’ve felt like this when I’ve eaten something unhealthy (but so tasty!) and also regularly visit the gym. It does almost feel like cheating on a partner.
